Announcing Planimate 6
InterDynamics is pleased to announce the general availability of Planimate 6. After a year of solid development, numerous enhancements to both its modelling and graphical capability have been finalised.
Over the course of 25 years, Planimate has evolved from its origins in the University of South Australia (South Australian Institute of Technology at the time) to a fully-fledged and highly capable generic simulation modelling tool. Additionally, InterDynamics recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a rebranding exercise which resulted in a unified look and feel for its decision support and fatigue risk management tools.
Planimate 6 is available to all existing license holders, via their idBase accounts. You will receive an email notifying you of this, and future, releases. If you are not a current license holder, a demo version of Planimate is available from our website.
Key developments in Planimate 6 over the past year include:
Significantly enhanced graphic processing means lines and curves (including flows, tracks & charts) are drawn smoothly without jagged steps.
Charts (e.g. Column Overlay, Log Driven & Gantt) and train graphs have been significantly enhanced and now include gradient bars, gradient areas, curve plots, scale labels and substantial improvements to the configurability of their layout and appearance.
Colour handling has been improved to support full 32 bit colour including transparency on all paint objects, charts and views.
Model theming enhancements allow the allocation of colours to custom palettes.
Full support for the PNG and JPEG image formats has been implemented providing superior icon animation and theming capabilities.
Track networks now support train length in both animation and simulation logic, significantly extending the capabilities of rail modelling.
Event logging and attribute watch lists have been incorporated allowing developers finer grained insight into model behaviour.
Updated layout, dialog fonts and configuration options for scaling.
- Release updates now include both 32 and 64 bit executables, while retaining cross compatibility of models. The advancement of 64 bit models allows for the modelling of extremely large networks such as nation-wide rail networks. or continent spanning logistics network consisting of tens of thousands of nodes.
- Enhancements to the Planimate core components have improved processing speeds, allowing for models to handle millions of events per second.
Planimate models can now be embedded within other applications, providing the ability to incorporate discrete event simulation modelling functionality to generic software tools.
InterDynamics’ new product branding has been incorporated into Planimate.
- New version numbering system. Internal development has adopted the industry standard of using numeric identifiers for development released. Instead of letters and numbers (e.g. 5.36i) Planimate releases will now be identified with numbers (e.g. 6.0.0)
Planimate development is ongoing with internal testing of the version 7 beta having recently begun.
